About the area
With a population of more than 17,000, Hinsdale has a spacious, friendly, relaxed vibe – even though it is only 14 miles from Chicago. Hinsdale was incorporated in 1873, 10 years after the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad decided to lay its track through vacant land where the city now stands. Hinsdale is a charming and historic town with its downtown being a National Register Historic District, and six individual Hinsdale buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places.
